Key Updates from the University of Portsmouth

The University of Portsmouth is pleased to announce several important updates to its admissions processes and program offerings. Here's what prospective students and agents need to know:

  1. Deposit and Payment Terms: The initial deposit required is now £6,000. Notably, there is no payment required at enrollment and no proof of funds is required for the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) when applying through Jokings Educare. The balance can be paid in six installments, with terms that are flexible and negotiable with the income team.

  2. Transcript Requirements for Science Courses: Effective immediately, transcripts are mandatory for applications to all science courses. However, for other courses, the university will continue to issue offers to applicants who have yet to submit their transcripts.

  3. New Nursing Programs: Starting September 2024, the university is excited to launch new programs in Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing. Applicants must have a minimum of one year of work experience in caregiving and a bachelor's degree in a medical or health-related field. For English proficiency, applicants should have at least a B3 in WAEC/NECO English Language, or a minimum of 6.0 in IELTS.

  4. Master of Arts in Social Work: The MA in Social Work is now open for applications directly via the university's portal. Applicants are required to have a minimum of a second-class degree (3.0 GPA).

  5. Tuition Fee Discounts and Scholarships: All students will automatically receive a £2,500 discount on tuition fees. After applying the discount, fees will range from £13,700 to £17,500. Additionally, there are merit-based scholarships available:

  • The CIGAMS Scholarship offers £5,000 for students achieving a minimum GPA of 4.0.

  • The School of Environment and Geography offers a 50% scholarship, details of which will be communicated via email.

  1. Master of Research (MRes) Program: This one-year program is now accepting applications. Candidates must submit a research proposal at the time of application, and bringing dependents is permitted.
